Going to Spain is something I've been looking forward to doing since I turned in my application in December of 2008. Since then, I have gone through a series of emotions. To start with, it was excitement. This lasted until the last week of classes when I started to become somewhat nervous about living with a host family. However, I have since not been able to help myself from being excited because I realized, "I'm going to Spain". The thing that I am most excited about is being within 15-20 min of the ocean. I grew up in Michigan which happens to be almost completely water locked and then I decided to move to one of the driest areas in the country so I am very excited to again be near a large body of water. The hardest part about this trip is going to be the language barrier between my host family and I (this is also what I am most nervous about). I feel confident in my ability to understand what they are saying but after opting out of taking a Spanish class this semester, I feel as though I’m going to be having a hard time communicating with them. Overall I am expecting a lot out of this trip. I expect to learn a lot about the culture and what it is like to be a Spaniard. I also expect to have a good time exploring Spain.
